Hey Laurier! Hope everyone is getting ready for midterm season which is now fast approaching! It is important to remember to get lots of rest, eat healthy, and exercise even when times are busy!

Coming up for the Lazaridis Students’ Society is our Student Appreciation Day on February 7th in the new LazSoc Clubs Office. We will have some fun activities, good food, and a couple surprise guests!

Don’t forget to download the app to stay up to date on all club events and to take advantage of our Discount Program! We are working very hard to perfect version 2 of the app and will have it released in the near future! If anyone is interested in signing up to help beta test the newest version of the app, or has any ideas, please reach out to me at zeeshan.mahmood@lazsoc.ca.

Name: Stephanie Ridding

Program: BBA with Finance Option (Co-op)

Year: 4

If you were in any other program, what would it be and why?

Definitely Geography! I love learning about the world and why it looks the way it does. Almost all of my electives have been in Geography.

You’re given the chance to live anywhere in the world and all of your expenses are paid, where would you be?

Santa Barbara, California! Santa Barbara is hands down the most beautiful place I have been! I have spent a lot of time down there. The mountains are breathtaking, the ocean is beaming with wildlife (due to the proximity of the Channel Islands) and the climate is perfect, sunny and warm all year round. I love being outdoors and being active and in Santa Barbara everyday is a new adventure. Plus you are still close to the glitz and glam of Los Angeles.

What’s the one piece of advice you think all university students should know?

Things will work out! I struggled a lot with the fact that I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my BBA after I graduated. It also didn’t help that a lot of my friends were sure of what they wanted to do. But not knowing was really a blessing in disguise as it kept me open to new experiences. I ended up finding a career I absolutely love and I would have never considered it as an option a year ago! Throughout my 4 years here at Laurier, I have learned not to stress so much and that things always work out and often better than you imagined.

If you could date any celebrity who would it be and why?

Ed Speleers from Downton Abbey! He’s just a cutie!

If you had a million dollars and 24 hours to spend it what would you buy?

First I would pay off my sisters’ and my education. Then I would take a fabulous trip to Hawaii, Nepal and Zambia! Hawaii so I can do some surfing. Nepal because I have been dying to do this 14 day trek to Everest’s base camp and Zambia to go on a Safari.

In your opinion, what’s the best meal to grab on campus and where is the ideal study spot?

Spin Dip duh! I get it all the time as a snack or lunch! The best spot to study is the SBE atrium or in a classroom. The SBE atrium has a lot of natural light and its generally pretty quiet. I also like to study in classrooms because I can write on the boards and make the studying more interactive.
