Executive Blog

Hi everyone,

With the cold and snowy weather, and most of you going through midterms, I want to remind everyone to take a break and relax, exercise or do something different. We have over 22 Clubs & Associations providing events for everyone in the upcoming weeks, so definitely check them out!

With reading week approaching, on behalf of the entire LazSoc team I want to wish everyone a safe and fun week and a Happy Valentines Day!

If you had to choose to live without 1 of your 5 senses, which would you give up?

That is a tough one, I value all 5! But if I had to, I would give up taste. Although I would miss having my dark chocolate, it would help me focus more on the nutritional value of food and less on the taste.
If you could live In a book, tv show or movie, What would it be?
Grease or Pirates of the Caribbean (what a combo!) I would pick Grease because I always complain about how I was not a teenager in the 60’s. Life back then seems to align more with my personality than the 2000’s. As well, I would pick POTC because who wouldn’t want to see Johnny Depp everyday? I also love picturing myself living an adventurous life instead of having a desk job (ew).

Growing up, what was your dream job?

CEO of Disney/Be on Family Channel. Every morning I would make my dad listen to me practice: “Hey! Its Ayda, watch me at 4pm – only on FAMILY.” He was very supportive of my dream.
If you could master one skill you don’t have right now, what would it be?
Focusing on a subject for more than an hour and being able to memorize something after seeing it once. It is pretty common for me to be halfway through a sentence and stop to think about how many countries are in Africa.

If you could make an Instagram caption to depict your life, what would it be?

I would say my current bio is representative of my current life. It states “eat nutritious, be ambitious.” I am a strong believer in living a well-balanced, healthy, and purposeful life. I think you should view your nutrition/wellness as an investment in yourself that will help you achieve all your other goals.
Greatest achievement at Laurier, so far?
My greatest achievement at Laurier was working with my unreal Co-President and hiring our fantastic team. It can be hard filtering through piles of resumes and narrowing it down to hiring 10 students. However, we somehow managed to pick a great group that collaborates extremely well. They are by far the most hardworking, innovative, and fun group of people I have ever met. To think us two Presidents are the ones that hired them makes me feel extremely proud!

If you won the lottery, what would you to with the money?

Buy an NFL team (I am assuming the lottery is a few billion). I am proud of predicting the Super Bowl 51 score and being one point off.
