Executive Blog

Hello everyone,

Hope everyone’s midterms are treating you well and you had a great reading week! The LazSoc team has been working these past few weeks to launch the theme for this years Year End Gala, and I am very excited to announce that this year’s theme is The Oscars! There may or may not be a red carpet to strut your stuff so make sure to come out! YEG will take place March 24th so make sure you get your tickets at yeg.lazsoc.ca.

Also, the Lazaridis Students’ Society will again be facilitating and running 5Days for the Homeless. This is a Canadian-founded campaign which raises awareness for youth at risk of homelessness as it’s a growing issue across Canada! We have donated thousands of dollars throughout the years and are very excited to do the same this year. A special shout-out to the Veritas Café where if you bring in a Tim’s “Please play again” you will receive a free coffee with a  donation contributed to 5Days.

Thank you!

Would you like to be famous? In what way?

I’d like to be famous, but in the Alex-From-Target type way. That way everyone knows who I am, but no one follows me around after the first few days or weeks. Then I can go back to living my normal life. Or Hannah Montana style, whichever works.

If a crystal ball could tell you the truth about yourself, your life, the future or anything else, what would you want to know?

I wouldn’t want to know anything! If I found out something was going to happen, knowing it could alter what actions I took, and then the time rifts and the answer would then be void. If it was a good and happy answer, I wouldn’t want to do that to myself and change my future!

What’s been the best part of your University experience thus far?

Never a bad time! I think the best part so far has been meeting so many new people. Between being involved in Residence/Residence Life, and being an executive on DECA, I can honestly say I’ve met some of the best people ever!

If you had three wishes, what would you wish for?

  • A gold suite on a cruise ship. Like a condo, I go travel on it when I please.
  • Unlimited supply of Nutella.
  • For my wallet to have the right amount of money in it every time I needed to pay for something.

What’s your best piece of advice?

Drop TV shows while you’re at school. You’ll have so much more time do to REAL LIFE THINGS. If you have ever had to say “I’m sorry, I can’t go out tonight, I have to study”, think about how much you could have studied in that 6-hour marathon of Friends you had on Tuesday. Not watching TV shows has honestly saved me so much time that I can allocate to studying which then means I can spend more time socializing later!

If you could switch lives with anyone, who would you choose and why?

My first instinct answer is Jennifer Aniston because she is my idol. I’ve seen every single movie she has ever been in. But thinking about it, probably my grandma. Retired, going on vacation whenever she wants, and having an amazing granddaughter like me – who wouldn’t want that?
