Executive Blog

Hey everyone,

As midterm season is coming to a close, I hope school and midterms have been treating you well. If you have some left, good luck, and if you are done, enjoy the small and well deserved break you have before finals. Just a couple weeks from now, LazSoc is excited to host our signature event Year End Gala. We have all been hard at work to put together a great event so make sure you purchase your tickets while they are still available.

Finally, LazSoc applications for next year’s executive team is out now for a limited time. If you are considering getting involved, this is a great way to do so!

Name: Arundhati Ganesh

Program: BBA with Co-op

Year: 3

What are three things still left on your bucket list?

Skydiving in Dubai, deep sea diving off the coast of Australia, and backpacking across Southeast Asia. As you can see, I’m a bit of a thrill seeker, as well as travel bug. Hopefully I can knock these three things off my bucket list soon after my time at Laurier!

Where do you want to be in 5 years? (job, location, etc.)

In 5 years, I see myself working as a brand strategist at an amazing and fast paced CPG company in downtown Toronto, NYC or even Sydney. I’d also love to have a puppy running around and a completely Ikea inspired apartment where I can binge watch Netflix to my heart’s content.

What three items would you take if you knew you were going to stranded on a tropical island for a year?

Freshwater, seasoned salt, and a pillow.

Freshwater because I want to be able to last more than 4 days on that island! Being a vegetarian, my options would be pretty limited on this island. Seasoned salt would help make that a bit more exciting J And a pillow because we all know how nice naps on the beach under the sun are, and you need a great pillow for a great nap!

What’s your favourite Laurier moment?

My favourite Laurier moment would have to be Homecoming. This is one day in the school year where people go all out and show their love for this school, and absolutely everyone is in a good mood. The sense of belonging and community that Laurier is so good at creating really comes out on this day. It makes me really proud to go to a school as amazing as this!

What’s one belief that you live by? Why?

One belief that I have stuck to and lived by the past few years has been the idea of not being afraid to take chances and make changes. People are often hesitant to make changes to their lives in fear of it not working out in their favour. The way I see it, you never know until you try, and there is always a better opportunity waiting for you somewhere. May as well take the leap and go for it now when you have the chance!

What would you do in life if you knew you could not fail?

If I knew I could not fail, I would join a research team to find a cure for cancer. Not being able to fail at this would be the most rewarding opportunity – with thousands of lives benefiting from the cure.

If money and time was no object, what would you be doing right now?
I would be sitting on the beaches of Mexico with a cool drink, an endless supply of nachos, and not a worry in the world 🙂
