Hello Golden Hawks!
I cannot believe it is that time of the semester where midterms are done, Year End Gala is just a few days away, and the incoming LazSoc team has been almost hired! But how could I forget about 5 Days for the Homeless! This amazing initiative falls under my portfolio, and I had the incredible opportunity to work with Dana Montgomery and Lindsey Felits as my directors. These two passionate individuals alongside the entire organizing committee has made a huge difference in the awareness of youth at risk of homelessness as well as raising funds for our two partners – oneRoof Youth Services and Argus. This campaign was able to raise ...$6300 in just 5 days!!!
It has been an absolutely spectacular year, and I speak for all of the Vice President team to say that, we are so thankful that we are able to celebrate everyone’s accomplishments this upcoming weekend; but the year is not just over yet! Keep an eye out for upcoming club events before final exams or SOS Sessions during final exam time!
Have a great week & I hope to see you at Year End Gala!

If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not, living or dead, real or fictional, with whom would it be?

Given the opportunity, I’d love to trade places with the one and only Guy Fieri from Diner’s, Drive-ins and Dives. This may seem out of left field, but when you break it down it makes sense. He is able to travel all the time, he is paid to complement great food and who wouldn’t want that awesome beard!

If you could give first year students one piece of advice before exams, what would it be?

Don’t just study hard, study smart. Identify key themes in the course and make sure you understand them.

If you had six months with no obligations or financial constraints, what would you do with the time?

Given six months with no obligations or constraints, I would travel (I mean seriously, who wouldn’t?). I would love to drive around Iceland, Canoe in Canada’s north, snorkel in Hawaii and hike in Peru.

What’s your favorite study spot on campus?

I’m a big fan of the tables on 4th floor Laz where the sun comes through the glass. With that said, I got a mini sun-burn one day over finals last year while sitting there so stay safe – it’s a dangerous world out there.

If you could give a TedTalk about anything, what would it be about?

This is an easy one! Given the time, I’d do a TedTalk about climate change. Not an account of where we find ourselves, but a pragmatic outlook to what we can actually do to combat the pressing issue. Not that I really know exactly what to do now, but I think it would be a great topic to learn more about.

If you had the option to go back to first year and start over, would you? Why?

Heck ya! I know it gets its share of bad publicity, but I can honestly say that the Dining Hall was one of the cornerstones of my first year experience, and I loved every minute of it. The ability to indulge in a home cooked breakfast of eggs and bacon before an early class (and not have to do the dishes) is a dream come true.
