Mitch Graham, an Underwriter within our Property and Casualty team, studied at Wilfrid Laurier University. His decision to pursue a career in insurance was influenced by his positive experiences in the BBA co-op program at Laurier that provided him with hands- on opportunities to explore various roles within the industry. At the start of his career at Liberty Mutual Canada, he quickly learned the ropes and faced both challenges and triumphs that shaped his professional journey.
Mitch shares that Liberty has been instrumental in supporting his growth, offering numerous resources and opportunities to develop his skills as an underwriter. He finds fulfillment in knowing that his work directly contributes to customers’ well-being. Ariel Zhang, a Senior Underwriter within our Financial & Professional Services team, brings her unique background and perspective to the table. Ariel’s journey into the insurance industry was shaped by her initial experiences in a mortgage investment corporation, where she first learned about underwriting. The impact of COVID-19 on the job market pushed Ariel to explore the insurance sector further, leading her to Liberty Mutual's Global Training program, which piqued her interest. She then started her journey working in Operations before transitioning to an Underwriting role with the company.
Ariel values the diversity of experiences within the insurance industry, highlighting that Liberty Mutual welcomes talent from all backgrounds, enriching our company culture. She enjoys the dynamic nature of her role in underwriting, where each day presents new challenges and learning opportunities. Leanne Desai is the Head of Claims at Liberty Mutual Canada and a proud alumnus of Wilfrid Laurier University.
