Whether you're starting your first year or finishing up your final year at Laurier, one thing remains constant: exams are a significant part of your academic journey. They often account for a large portion of your final grade, and the pressure can sometimes feel overwhelming. But don't worry- you're not alone. As the midterm season approaches, many students face the same challenges, and with the right approach, you can manage exam stress and perform at your best! 


In a recent conversation, Harpinder Gill, who is studying in their fourth year of BBA, shares their experience with exams:


"Even as a fourth-year student, exams can be just as stressful, if not more, than in my earlier years. I manage it by preparing well in advance and still making time for things I enjoy, like working out, hanging out with friends, or watching football. It helps me keep a balance and stay focused."


Regardless of what year you're in, midterms can be stressful. However, learning how to manage that stress effectively is key to doing well!


Tips for Managing Midterm Stress


Start Early and Stay Organized:

One of the biggest sources of stress is cramming at the last minute. Instead, start preparing for your exams as early as possible. Create a study schedule that breaks down your material into manageable chunks. This will allow you to gain confidence leading up to the exam date!


Balance Study with Self-Care:


Exams are important, but so is your well-being. Taking breaks, eating well, getting enough sleep, and exercising regularly are all essential. Taking care of your physical and mental health ensures you're functioning at your best when it's time to focus!
