Director of EDI & Advocacy

Role Description: 

As the Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) & Advocacy you hold a meaningful role in planning and executing EDI initiatives throughout the Lazaridis community. Working closely with Laurier faculty, external partners and the clubs' community,  you will continue to enhance and constantly seek areas of improvement relating to our current EDI operations. You understand the needs of our organization and will apply an EDI lens to all functions of LazSoc and the greater Clubs' Community. You are a hard worker who can manage multiple projects while sharing your passion and expertise with our internal team and affiliate organizations. 

Duties and Responsibilities Include, but Are Not Limited to: 
Development, planning and execution of EDI strategies to develop equitable leaders, achieve higher levels of diversity representation, and create an inclusive environment
Plan and execute monthly EDI Portfolio Sessions for representatives in the Lazaridis Clubs' Community focusing on specific portfolios (Corporate Relations, Internal Affairs, Marketing, etc) to foster learning, collaboration, and create safe spaces, with the objective of holistically incorporating EDI initiatives and thinking amongst all LazSoc Clubs
Help manage and organize Business Formal Rental Clothing drives 
Collaborate to plan and create philanthropy initiatives in the Lazaridis community (ie. donation drives)
Build relationships with various offices at Laurier and find opportunities to collaborate
Provide direction and be a trusted partner to our students and Clubs' Community 
Handle highly sensitive and often confidential materials with a professional presence
Time dedication of 10-15 hours weekly, with heavier commitment in preparation for EDI Forums

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict management skills
Committed, punctual, and persistent
Self-starting nature, exhibits resourcefulness in seeking solutions to unforeseen obstacles
Hard worker, willing to prioritize this role above other extra-curriculars
Eager to to learn and passionate about EDI and Advocacy topics
Acts as a trusted confidant in private matters and problem-solving situations
Curious nature; not afraid to speak up, voice their opinion, and ask questions
